Abstract
Poly(ethylene terephthalate) film was modified with argon or perfluoro hexane plasma to obtain hydrophilic or hydrophobic surfaces, respectiv ely. Various biological experiments in vitro and in vivo were chosen i n order to evaluate the influence of such treatment on biocompatibilit y. Plasma modification does not cause toxic effects and does not influ ence disadvantageously the tested polyester biocompatibility. The huge changes in surface energy cause of only minor changes in the biologic al behaviour of the samples.
