New chromosome counts in the genus Cardamine L. from the Carpathians a
nd Pannonia are presented. Special attention has been paid to populati
ons of the C. pratensis group (7 taxa including two informal units, ch
romosome numbers from 2x up to 10x, aneuploids, polysomics, dysploids)
and C. amara (C. a. subsp. amara. and subsp. opicii). Five further sp
ecies are discussed briefly. For several taxa chromosome numbers from
populations outside the Carpathians and Pannonia are also given. Some
previous indications of chromosome numbers based on misidentified mate
rial are corrected.
