Abstract
A practical method. for the measurement and discrimination of floating organic layers is presented. Chromatic sensing is used to enhance the performance of the funnel-capillary technique. Kerosene layers can be measured with an accuracy of +/- 0.140 mm. The dynamic range of the s ensor is 0.30-20 mm. The method is robust and is designed for use in a n industrial environment.
