Abstract
Two patients with acute renal failure and streptococcal erysipela are reported. In both cases, renal biopsy showed acute interstitial nephri tis with a predominantly mononuclear infiltrate. Beta lactam antibioti c without steroid therapy was followed by complete recovery of renal f unction. It seems likely that some cases of AlN related to infection a re erroneously attributed to antibiotic hypersensitivity.
