Abstract
The influence of a chemically bound halogen on the ignition induction period of a polyphenylquinoxaline under conditions of linear pyrolysis has been studied. A continuous CO2 laser was used as the source of ig nition. A hyperbolic relation was found between the induction period a nd the power density. The introduction of a halogen into the polymer s tructure increased the resistance to ignition.
