PRODUCTION OF THE HERB LAYER IN CONIFEROUS ECOSYSTEMS OF SLOVAKIA

The aim of the contribution is a partial synthesis and detail informat ion about the production of above-ground herb layer biomass and moss l ayer biomass in coniferous ecosystems of Slovakia. Analysed were pine (Pinus sylvestris, Pinus mugo) forests, mixed deciduous-coniferous (Fa gus sylvatica, Acer pseudoplantanus, Abies alba, abies) forests, fir ( Abies alba) forests and spruce (Picea abies) forest. Obtained results are compared with coiferous forests of the temperate zone.
