Zj. Gieroba et al., INHIBITION OF THE A1 AREA PREVENTS HEMORRHAGE-INDUCED SECRETION OF VASOPRESSIN IN RATS, Brain research, 657(1-2), 1994, pp. 330-332
In rats, secretion of vasopressin initiated by hemorrhage was complete
ly abolished after muscimol-induced inhibiton of neuronal function in
the A1 region of the ventrolateral medulla oblongata. The A1 neurons a
re essential links in the central pathway to hypothalamic vasopressin-
synthesizing neurons in this species.
