Abstract
The result of Dc magnetization (M) measurements on the compounds RCu(2 )Si(2) (R = Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er and Tm) in the paramagnetic state up to 55 kOe are reported. In all cases, except that of Gd alloy, M is foun d to be a non-linear function of magnetic field tending to saturate at higher fields over a wide temperature range in the paramagnetic state . This magnetization behaviour is found to be essentially a single-ion ic effect, presumably arising from strong 4f quadrupolar effects.
