Ma. Paulonis et Ga. Krishnagopalan, KRAFT WHITE AND GREEN LIQUOR COMPOSITION ANALYSIS .1. DISCRETE SAMPLEANALYZER, Journal of pulp and paper science, 20(9), 1994, pp. 100000254-100000258
A precise, reliable, and rapid analyzer has been developed for the pur
pose of determining the concentration of sodium hydroxide, sodium sulp
hide, and sodium carbonate in kraft white and green liquors. The analy
zer uses flow injection analysis to measure the ultraviolet absorption
(254 nm), refractive index, and conductivity of the kraft liquors. Th
e chemical concentrations of interest are inferred from these non-spec
ific property measurements. Tests with synthetic white and green liquo
rs over a wide composition range indicate that the analyzer accuracy a
nd precision at 90% confidence are +/-0.5 g/L for sodium hydroxide and
sodium sulphide, and +/-0.8 g/L for sodium carbonate.
