Abstract
A time-resolved shearographic detection method is described which empl oys controlled thermal loading to produce both thermal and thermoelast ic responses and allows defect depth to be determined. A comparison is made between this shearographic approach and conventional thermograph ic methods for nondestructive evaluation. Results are presented for a graphite-epoxy/honeycomb composite specimen with delaminations between the skin and the honeycomb core.
