The chi2-criterion is used for studying azimuthal and rapidity correla
tions in nucleus-nucleus and hadron-hadron interactions. The kinematic
azimuthal correlations are detected in pi-p collisions at 40 GeV/c. T
he azimuthal correlations associated with the development of the intra
nuclear cascade and rapidity correlations due to fluctuations of the n
umber of nucleons in a projectile and a target participating in the in
teraction are detected in (Ne + Em) collisions at 4.1A GeV/c.
