Abstract
Three modes of the tunneling acoustic microscope are introduced in thi s paper. The theoretical formula for the relationship of electric forc e and tunneling distance are derived. The results illustrate that the electric force between tip and sample depends only the tip-sample spac ing to tip radis ratio within the range of tunneling effects. The theo retical calculation are in agreement with the experimental data and th ose of references.
