Abstract
A few peroxo complexes of titanium(IV) and zirconium(IV) of the formul ate [Ti(O)(O2)C6H4-(NH2)2.H2O]. [M(O)(O2)L2], [Ti(O2)L'2], [Zr(O)(O2)2 L''.H2O], [Ti(O)(O2)L'''], [Zr(O)(O2)L''' -H2O], and [Zr(O)(O2), tet] [where M = Zr(IV) and Ti(IV); L = ethylenediamine, 2-aminopyridine; L' = aminophenoxido, oxoquinolino; L'' = pyridine, triphenylphosphine ox ide; L''' = diethylenetriamine; tet = triethylenetetramine] have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, conductivity meas urements and IR spectral studies. The complexes containing monodentate and bidentate ligands are found to oxidize both PPh3 and AsPh3 but th ose containing tridentate and tetradentate ligands are stable and iner t towards oxidation.
