Abstract
The gluteal free flap represents a useful alternative for autologous t issue breast reconstruction in select patients. The safety and reliabi lity of the inferior gluteal flap have been demonstrated in 25 consecu tive cases. To make the free gluteal flap work, careful evaluation and preparation of recipient vessels with the liberal use of vein grafts and proper insetting should ensure overall success.
