Abstract
Why, despite changing paradigms in agricultural research, do women's v oices remain muted in many national programs of agricultural research and development? This article makes use of a case study from Malawi to illustrate the gendered nature of science in agriculture. It draws on recent feminist critiques of science and emerging actor-oriented appr oaches that point the way in deconstructing and reconstructing the pra ctice of agricultural science.
