K. Swamy et al., WAVELENGTH-DISPERSIVE X-RAY-FLUORESCENCE SPECTROMETRIC TECHNIQUE FOR DETERMINING ELEMENTS IN WELD FUMES, X-ray spectrometry, 23(2), 1994, pp. 71-74
An x-ray fluorescence spectrometric method is described for the determ
ination of elements present in the fumes evolved during welding. Synth
etic standards were prepared using salts of Si, Mn, Cr, Fe, Pb, Cu, Al
and Ni for evaluation. The standards were mixed with boric acid in th
e ratio 1:1 and briquettes were prepared by the double pellet method.
The samples were collected in filter-paper discs by exposing them duri
ng welding. The average standard deviation of the method is about 7%.
