Abstract
Strong surface thermal lensing effect are observed. A theoretical mode l which can analytically solve Fresnel-Kirchhoff integral of probe bea m is presented. The model successfully simulates the diffraction patte rn of a probe beam from thermal bumps with height comparable or even l arger than the optical wavelength. Some advantages of surface thermal lensing technique are discussed.
