COMPLEXES OF OXOVANADIUM(V) WITH BENZOTHIAZOLINES

A new series of biologically active oxovanadium(V) complexes of benzot hiazolines derived from heterocyclic ketones and 2-mercaptoaniline wer e synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, molecular weigh t determinations and conductance measurements. Spectroscopic studies i ndicate coordination of sulphur and the azomethine nitrogen to the met al. All the free ligands and their complexes have been tested in vitro against a variety of pathogenic fungi and bacteria and were found to possess appreciable fungicidal and bactericidal properties.
