Jm. Bavouzet et al., A NOVEL DEVICE FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF NORMAL STRESSES TIME VARIATIONS EFFECTS ON SUSPENDED CELL - DESIGN AND PERFORMANCES, Biotechnology techniques, 8(9), 1994, pp. 663-670
A generator of strictly normal stress time variations was designed in
order to study the membrane resistance to mechanical stress of various
cell species. This system provides pressure drops within very short t
ime periods : 22 MPa in 1.9 msec in liquid systems and 6 MPa in 10 mse
c in the presence of a gas. It also offers the possibility to study th
e effect of successive ''compression / decompression'' cycles on cell
integrity and metabolism. A single decompression provoked no structura
l damage to the cells.
