R. Decressain et al., MOLECULAR MOTIONS IN SOLID (CH3NH3)(5)BI2CL11 AS STUDIED BY PROTON NUCLEAR-MAGNETIC-RESONANCE, Journal of physics and chemistry of solids, 55(2), 1994, pp. 139-144
The temperature dependencies of the H-1 spin-lattice relaxation times
(T-1z,T-1 rho), and the second moment M(2) of proton NMR absorption we
re measured for solid (CH3NH3), Bi2Cl11 and its partially deuterated a
nalogs between 100 and 350 K. The results show that the methylammonium
cations undergo rapid overall rotation in the room temperature phase,
and rotations around the C-3 axis in the low temperature phase. The a
ctivation energies associated with those motions were obtained using a
BPP model. The NMR results relating to the three phases of these comp
ounds are discussed and compared with other studies.
