A. Srithar et al., STUDIES OF NEW CASTLE DISEASE VIRUS (NDV) ISOLATE FROM JAPANESE-QUAILS (COTURNIX-COTURNIX-JAPONICA), Indian Veterinary Journal, 71(9), 1994, pp. 862-865
An isolate of NDV from Japanese quail was revived in six weeks old chi
cks, serially passaged in embryonated hens eggs for ten times and the
amnio-allantoic fluid collected from the infected eggs was tested for
HA titre (1024), Egg lethal dose (10log ELD50;5.75/0.01 ml). Virulence
characters based on MDT (57 hrs), ICPI (1.78), and IVPI (2.53) proved
the isolate to be velogenic. The 10log TCID50 titre in BHK21 cell lin
e at 5th and 10th passage levels were 4.25/50mul and 5.25/50mul respec
tively.
