Cv. Niranjan et al., CLINICAL OBSERVATIONS IN KETAMINE-HYDROCHLORIDE ANESTHESIA WITH PHENOTHIAZINE TRANQUILIZERS IN CATS, Indian Veterinary Journal, 71(9), 1994, pp. 900-902
Administration of ketamine (25mg/kg body weight) with triflupromazine
(3mg/kg body weight) or chlorpromazine (1mg/kg body weight) by intramu
scular route in cats, premedicated with glycopyrrolate (0.02mg/kg body
weight) provides smooth induction, good anaesthesia, muscle relaxatio
n, minimal salivary secretarions and smooth recovery with no adverse e
ffects. There was considerable reduction in rectal temperature, respir
atory rate and increased heart rate during the anaesthetic period. The
se two above combinations are better than the use of ketamine alone or
ketamine with promazine combinations.
