R. Guzman et al., ARTERIAL FIBRODYSPLASIA CAUSING OCCLUSIVE VASCULAR-DISEASE SIMULATINGPRIMARY VASCULITIS, Revista de Investigacion Clinica, 46(1), 1994, pp. 67-71
We report a case of arterial fibrodysplasia causing vascular disease w
ith ulceronecrotic lesions in lower extremities. The arteriography sho
wed a beaded pattern in both arteries and veins; laboratory test findi
ngs were within normal value ranges; the biopsy reported medial hyperp
lasia involving the arterial and venous walls. Arterial fibrodysplasia
should be considered as a differential diagnosis in patients complain
ing of recurrent occlusive vascular episodes without systemic manifest
ations, normal laboratory test results, and radiological patterns sugg
estive of fibrodysplasia. This is the first report of medial hyperplas
ia in digital arteries and venous wall involvement.
