Abstract
The health professional has an obligation to promote the good of the p atient. Whether a patient's pleasure needs are part of that obligation is a complex issue. It is even more complex when that patient is an i nfant. The author discusses the pleasure needs of sick infants and the health professionals' moral duty to ensure that pleasure is provided. He approaches this concept by underscoring the importance of pleasure for infants and the necessity for health professionals to recognize a nd ensure that their patients enjoy this ultimate good.
