We have carried out X-ray structure analysis (a DARCH diffractometer,
MoK(alpha) radiation, 1430 independent reflections with \F\ greater-th
an-or-equal-to 4\sigma(F)\, 2theta less-than-or-equal-to 56-degrees, R
= 0.0295) of a novel copper(I) nitrate pi-complex with diallyl cyanam
ide (space group P2(1)/b, a = 6.603(2), b = 8.318(2), c = 18.342(4) an
gstrom, gamma = 92.28(3)-degrees, Z = 4 for CuNO3.C7H10N2). Due to the
bridging function of one oxygen atom of the NO3 group, centrosymmetri
c dimeric units Cu2(NO3)2 (Cu-O(3) 2.029(3) and Cu-O(3)' 2.524(2) angs
trom) are formed in the structure. These units are combined via the br
idging bidentate (the C = C bond, the N atom of cyano group) diallyl c
yanamide molecules into infinite [Cu2(NO3)2.2(CH2 = CH-CH2)2NCN]n ribb
ons oriented along [100].
