Smokes are used in warfare for a variety of applications ranging from
screening to signalling and training purposes. With the development of
modern weapons for night surveillance, laser range finder and IR guid

a potential and cheap countermeasure. A review of the work done so far
on formulations, processing and testing of infrared screening smokes
is presented. Suggestions for future line of research work in this are
a, have also been made.
