Membrane technology for diffusion separation of gas mixtures is the mo
st suitable process used to generate ultra pure hydrogen (UPH). The de
velopment of large-scale production of UPH is inhibited for lack of co
mmercial membrane materials. The principles of creation of new effecti
ve membrane palladium alloys, which are founded on investigations of p
hysical, mechanical, technological properties, hydrogen permeability a
nd resistance to thermocycling, are reviewed in this paper.
