Abstract
Mathematical formalisms underlying some of the principal bio-medical i maging modalities are given. Problems of image reconstruction using th ese formulations, when limited or noisy data is available are stated a nd attempts to remedy these problems are discussed. Applications of th e mathematical formalisms to X-ray, nuclear magnetic resonance and rad ionuclide based imaging modalities are presented.
