Abstract
We describe a new non-polluting tanning process using chromium salts. The various factors involved in the process were also investigated. Th e new process considerably reduces the level of pollutants in the effl uent, and is suitable for large-scale operation. Complete exhaustion o f the tanning baths, together with much higher chromium binding was ob served with the organic medium than with the traditional processes car ried out in aqueous media.
