SYSTEMATIC STUDY OF FRONTAL ZONES OF THE SOUTH-WEST ATLANTIC - REMOTE-SENSING FROM SPACE AND FROM A SHIP

The paper describes the results of studies of the oceanic fronts in th e South West Atlantic during the 6th voyage of the RV Akademik Ioffe. Data from remote sensing of the thermal structure of the ocean from sp ace and from remote acoustic sensing of the current velocity from the ship is used together with on-track measurements of the OST. The paper studies the structure of the subtropical, subantarctic and polar fron tal zones in the seas of the region and describes the characteristics of the currents along the fronts.
