Abstract
Butylammonium hexachlorostannate exhibit two phase transitions, the fi rst one at 232 K; this is shown by calorimetric measurements and spect roscopic analysis and it is of second order. The second phase transiti on is seen only by Raman scattering. The temperature is not well defin ed, and the two phase transitions are order-disorder involving both th e organic part of the chain and SnCl6 octahedra deformation. Raman and Infrared spectra at different temperatures are recorded and some freq uencies are assigned.
