B. Witek et al., THE ACTIVITY OF LYSOSOME ENZYMES IN RABBITS DURING THE PROCESS OF ADAPTATION TO STRESS, Archiv fur Tierzucht, 37(5), 1994, pp. 555-566
The studies were carried out on 96 random rabbits of three breeds - Wh
ite New Zealand, Nitran, and Zobor. The rabbits were divided into expe
rimental and control groups. The experimental animals were transferred
to new cages every day for 90 days. The control animals were placed i
n their own cages from the beginning to the end of the experiment. The
n the animals were killed and the slices of the liver, kidney, skeleta
l muscle and blood were taken immediately for examination. The changes
of enzyme activities showed stimulating effect of the cage stress on
the labilisation of lysosomal membranes. Ranges of the adaptation reac
tion were related to the genetic variability of the investigated anima
ls, their sex, and the kind of the investigated tissue.
