Abstract
The computerized herd management and information system THEBIS retriev es information for the statistical data analysis in surveys, tables an d grafics. Herd surveys show the development and the actual status of the herd according to breed, production class, reproduction and lactat ion stage. The monthly report comprises in a condensed form the actual number and changes in numbers of animals, fertility, milk production and diseases of the herd within the last month. It serves as a basis f or discussions and as orientation for further analyses. Fertility, dis eases, milk yield and contents can be analysed using key indices. Bree ds, barns, lactation numbers, milk production levels, genetic relation ships can be compared as well as between freely chosen criteria. The r esults are displayed as tables or grafically as histogrammes. The colu mns of the histogrammes are built up by the identification numbers of the animals in order to detect animals with significant deviations of key indices. The survey filing card for more information on the animal can be shown on the screen, if the number of the animal is marked in the histogramme. The success of the herd programme can be proved by an alysis of the key indices over time intervals.
