Abstract
Poly(vinyl alcohol) is considered as a potential material in thin-laye r 'all solid' batteries. By adding an appropriate doping agent, intrin sic ionic conduction is observed leading to its use as a solid electro lyte in zinc/halogen and zinc/metal oxide batteries. The association o f zinc metal powder and conjugated salt in poly(vinyl alcohol) leads t o a composite anode which acts as a proton generator or protode when t he system is a proton conductor.
