Abstract
In this short note I present a simple calculation of the top quark and Higgs masses, based on the idea that in the standard model without el ementary Higgs the fact that the U(1)Y coupling becomes of the order o f unity at the Landau scale lambda leads to spontaneous symmetry break ing and generation of masses.
