An analysis of the heat and mass transfer for the dynamics of frontal
nonisothermal sorption of hydrogen from inert gas in a bed of granulat
ed hydride-forming sorbents has been made by both experimental study a
nd by using a one-dimensional mathematical model. It is assumed that m
ass transfer is limited by the diffusion of molecular hydrogen in the
granule pores. Axial dispersion effects are allowed for. It is shown t
hat a satisfactory description of the experimental results can be prov
ided using the proposed mathematical model. Heat and mass transfer cha
racteristics of the sorption systems are determined.
