Abstract
The vaccines presently developed in laboratories are more numerous tha n the ones in current use. This acceleration of research efforts was m ade possible by a genuine biotechnological revolution which opened new avenues for vaccine preparation, with techniques such as the selectio n of relevant antigens and the use of subunit vccines. Genetic enginee ring plays an icreasing part in the development and production of both live and inactivated vaccines.
