Ma. Salam et Hr. Cable, ACQUIRED PHARYNGEAL DIVERTICULUM FOLLOWING ANTERIOR CERVICAL FUSION OPERATION, British journal of clinical practice, 48(2), 1994, pp. 109-110
We report an unusual case of a pharyngeal diverticulum arising as a re
sult of extrusion of a bone graft inserted during anterior cervical fu
sion operation. The dense scar tissue at the site of extrusion of the
bone graft probably caused traction on the posterior pharyngeal wall,
with the development of a pharyngeal pouch. This is believed to be the
first case with acquired pharyngeal diverticulum following anterior c
ervical fusion to be recorded in the literature.
