Abstract
The effect of processing parameters on the visual quality of injection -moulded parts was investigated experimentally with three materials. T he quality characteristics measured were shrinkage, weight, and visibi lity of weld lines and sink marks. Two kinds of test parts were made f or investigating these quality characteristics. In experiments, the Ta guchi parameter-design method was used. The results show that this met hod is very practical in optimizing the quality of injection-moulded p arts. Additionally, the parameter effects and their intensity can easi ly be evaluated. This is important, especially when there are many qua lity characteristics in the product to optimize. By this method, the n umber of experiments could be reduced, which could lead to cost-saving s.
