P. Petkov, ERRORS ARISING FROM NUCLEAR HYPERFINE INTERACTIONS ON LIFETIMES DETERMINED BY THE RECOIL DISTANCE DOPPLER-SHIFT METHOD, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section A, Accelerators, spectrometers, detectors and associated equipment, 349(1), 1994, pp. 289-291
The influence of hyperfine interactions (deorientation of the nuclear
angular momentum) on the results obtained by means of coincidence RDDS
measurements is investigated. It is analytically shown that if the da
ta are analyzed with the differential decay curve method (DDCM) the li
fetimes derived are not affected by the deorientation provided the gat
es are set on transitions which feed directly the level of interest. W
ith gates set higher in the cascade, the arising error is expected to
be rather small.
