Ga. Kossmehl et al., EFFECT OF THE CHEMICAL-STRUCTURE OF SOME HYDROGELS ON THEIR CHARACTERISTIC PROPERTIES .1. EFFECT OF COMONOMER COMPOSITION, Die Angewandte makromolekulare Chemie, 215, 1994, pp. 59-77
Some hydrogels of different chemical composition were synthesized usin
g 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, methacrylic acid, acrylic acid, and acr
ylamide in different ratios and crosslinked by ethylene dimethacrylate
. Effects of the copolymer composition as well as the type of monomers
on some hydrogel characteristics were evaluated. Some characteristic
properties, namely soluble fraction percentage, swelling degree, solut
ion uptake, and salt uptake were found to be markedly affected by the
hydrogel composition.
