Abstract
We discuss scalar mesons, emphasizing those which do not carry manifes t flavour quantum numbers. The properties of these mesons are still ve ry poorly understood. Some of them probably do not have the usual two- quark (quark-antiquark) structure, but may be mixed with glueball stat es or other exotics. We discuss simple models for these mesons and poi nt out which measurements can shed light on their composition.
