Abstract
We calculate the Casimir energy of a bosonic p-brane (p-dimensional ob ject) and regularize it by a zeta-function based on Fujikawa-Kubo's fo rmulation. We further show, starting with the Polyakov-type action, th at the contribution from the longitudinal components of the p-brane va riables is cancelled by Faddeev-Popov ghosts.
