The transformation of supercooled austenite in powdered steels is dete
rmined by the composition of the steel, the inhomogeneity in the distr
ibution of alloying elements, and also the porosity of the structure.
We have plotted the isothermal decomposition diagrams of supercooled a
ustenite for steel with porosity 24%, 10% and 6%. We used the Avraami
equation to determine the incubation period.
