Abstract
The herbicide difenzoquat, 1,2-dimethyl-3,5-diphenyl-pyrazolium methyl sulphate, forms a weak inclusion complex with betaCD having 1 : 1 stoi chiometry and a formation constant of K = 70 +/- 12 mol-1 L. The compl exation changes the solution conductivity and substantially enhances t he fluorescence intensity. The probable configuration of the inclusion complex is the insertion of the pyrazole ring into the cavity, leavin g both phenyl substituents outside.
