Abstract
System theory properties of relaxation systems are revised and new pro perties are developed. Approximation of relaxation systems using Balan ced truncation, Singular perturbation balanced truncation, Hankel norm model reduction, and H approximation schemes is studied. Some further properties related to the H norm are explored. Application of the res ults to power spectrum estimation is discussed.
