Abstract
In a completely field-theoretical description of nuclei, the Gamow-Tel ler states are obtained as Nambu-Goldstone bosons of a spontaneously b roken SU(4) symmetry. The isobaric analog states are obtained similarl y as a result of broken SU(2)-isospin symmetry. Such an approach provi des a consistent description of all the collective states in nuclei.
