Abstract
We present the endocrine parameters of two adult patients with partial hypopituitarism documented at 6 and 8 months after chemotherapy, sing le fraction total body irradiation (10.5 Gy) and autologous bone marro w transplantation. The hormone profiles demonstrate severe somatotroph insufficiency and impaired adrenocorticotroph secretary capacity, des pite sparing of the gonadotroph compartment. We recommend stimulatory testing of hypothalamic-pituitary function from 3 months post-transpla nt, as basal hormonal concentrations may be equivocal, and supplementa tion may significantly improve quality of life.
