Abstract
Discontinuous precipitation (DP) in a Ni-7.5at%In alloy has been studi ed by means of atom-probe field ion microscopy (APFIM). A back-polishi ng method using a transmission electron microscope (TEM) has been deve loped to prepare APFIM specimens in a systematic manner, so that the r eaction front and the two-phase lamellar structure can be positioned i n the tip apex. APFIM results of the subsequent analysis of the chemic al composition across the interfaces are reported.
