Radiation damage in tungsten caused by charged particles is one of the
problems in future fusion reactor materials. In this study, the radia
tion damage process was directly observed by FIM and compared with a c
omputer simulation experiment. In the radiation damage experiment, tun
gsten specimens were bombarded with 300 keV Ni+ ions to the doses from
1.4 X 10(16) to 1.4 X 10(19) ions/m2. The size distribution and morph
ology of irradiation-induced defects was obtained from FIM observation
. In the computer calculation, the cascade damage process was determin
ed and compared with the experimental results.
